What is a podcast?
A podcast is simply an annotated list of audio files (although increasingly people are applying the term to video and other media) that is placed on the Internet for anyone to download. It's usually possible to download the files directly from the website, just as one would normally do; however, special programs called Aggrogators exist that let users subscribe to podcasts in order to automatically download and store the media files for later playback. iTunes is a very common aggregator. Commonly used audio file formats are Quicktime and MP3. (Courtesy of http://www.wikipedia.org)I don’t have software on my computer that will play a podcasts. How do I get the software that will allow me to listen to a podcast?
Most modern computers come with an Operating System that will have a utility that can play MP3’s and other formats. Some podcasts also have a website that offers a flash based player which can play the podcast as well. Popular music devices such as the iPhone, iPod, Zune, and Nomad come with software that helps you download and organize your podcasts for later consumption. You can manually download our podcasts from http://www.charitycentral.ca/podcast_resources or find us on iTunes by searching for Charity Central.
