About Us

WHO WE ARE

Charity Central is a Canada-wide charity law education initiative of the Centre for Public Legal Education Alberta , made possible with a financial contribution from the Canada Revenue Agency. The initiative supports Canadian charities in understanding and complying with the requirements of the Income Tax Act in the areas of receipting, fundraising, record keeping, and accountability and transparency practices.

WHAT WE DO

The initiative creates plain language resources in a variety of formats, and offers learning opportunties to guide organizations through the ins and outs of operating as a registered charity.

HOW WE DO IT

Charity Central has developed a user friendly website which offers a wide range of resources in both English and French to meet the diverse needs of registered charities in fulfilling their legal obligations. The audiences for the resources are :

    • small, medium and large charities;
    • staff, board members and volunteers involved with charities; and
    • professionals and educational agencies that support the charitable sector.
